The HMI Hybrid Station functions as a smart docking station for industrial applications in Zone 1. The tablet flexibly guides the user through the plant and is docked back into the Hybrid Station once mobile work is complete. Once docked, a fully-fledged operator station is created with all the advantages of a stationary HMI solution—the integrated REMOTE HMI software ensures cyber-secure operation. The login window appears automatically, and the operator can log in immediately using an RFID tag—authentically and securely.

The keyboard and trackball enable precise operation even when wearing gloves. At the same time, the tablet charges automatically and connects securely to the corporate network.

## **INNOVATION: Permanent Charging in Zone 1**

With the Hybrid Station, R. STAHL offers the world’s first explosion-protected tablet that can be charged in Zone 1/21. This innovative feature is made possible by a permanent docking station directly at the operator station. While the tablet is charging, users can continue working on the 22-inch HMI without any issues; the hard-wired network connection ensures secure and reliable data transmission.

**In addition, the tablet is secured to the HMI to prevent theft - and can be located at any time.**

##### **No compromises when it comes to Cyber Security**

Daily cyberattacks on the industrial sector require software designed to counter them; this software was developed to defend against cyberattacks and, as a closed system based on the latest Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC operating system, ensures the highest level of IT security within the facility. For example, operators do not have direct access to the Windows operating system, thereby preventing any tampering; permissions and functions are assigned centrally by the administrator, and all long-term security updates are managed by the IoT LTSC platform.

The REMOTE HMI supports all common thin-client technologies, such as RDP, VNC, and HTML browsers, for access to all relevant process control systems (DCS), MES, and production systems. The REMOTE HMI is ideal for modern Industry 4.0 and cloud automation concepts; it reduces the need for local industrial PCs and ensures easy scaling and maintenance of the infrastructure.

With features such as Ethernet redundancy, automatic reconnection, and failover/fallback functions, it ensures stable 24/7 operation in all production-critical facilities. With new features—including IP camera integration via ONVIF, keyboard and mouse sharing across multiple systems, and continuous SSD status monitoring—the REMOTE V7 firmware represents one of the world’s most advanced thin client software solutions, optimized for all tablets.
